“What It Means” (16 crosses) 33X54 1/2″. Machine pieced and quilted, hand embroidered words. NFS Description: For this quilt, done near the beginning of the series, I asked several good friends if they could state in one word what the cross meant to them. I must admit that I also “asked” the same question of some of my favorite authors.

“We Are One” 24X41 1/2″. Machine pieced and quilted, words hand-embroidered. Description: A quilt that started out as one thing and ended up as another! I had a piece that I did not like, and so I cut it up. I started to insert crosses into the cut up pieces, and soon an image appeared on my design wall. It reminded me of a message my pastor had recently shared, that even though our beliefs may vary slightly, and our methods of worship are different, we are one. All over the world, and within our own small communities, we are called to be one. The phrases are found in Ephesians 4. NFS

I just came across your site via the Quilt show. Wonderful quilts! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the We Are One quilt! I don’t suppose you have developed a pattern for it?
I had been looking for a way to honor God and Jesus in my quilts more, and loved your Cross And Circles pattern from the TQS show! Actually I love them all, but was especially excited by the one block. I too love circles and spirals for the same reasons, and try to put them in as many of my quilts as I can. I just wanted to say thank you for the pattern provided through TQS. I am working on making larger versions of it for a couple of quilts that I’m making, and am excited about them.
Thank you so much for your comment. My ideas are inspired by God, and I’m so glad to hear that they have inspired you. I’d love to see your quilts when you finish them.
I’ve finished the first quilt, which I’ll be giving to my best friend tomorrow for her birthday. I don’t seem to be able to include a .jpg in this reply so that you can see it, however.
Hi Mary, You can send the picture to me in an email, if you’d like: dschnabel@volcano.net
